Using Outfit Lens inside ChatGPT
Outfit Lens is an app you can run inside a ChatGPT conversation. Point it at a garment — in a photo you share, or just described in words — and it searches an indexed catalogue for visually similar pieces, then shows them as a result card inside the chat. It never runs on its own: it starts only when you call it.
How to start
1. Call the app by name
Outfit Lens activates only when you ask for it. Type @OutfitLens in the message box and click it in the list that appears, or simply ask for it by name. There is no background process and no automatic trigger, so nothing happens until you start it.
2. Give it a garment
Share a photo containing the piece you are after, or describe it in words if you do not have an image. Both routes run the same search.
3. Read the result card
Matches appear as a card inside the conversation. Each product shows its image, its brand, and its price.
Working the result card
Switch the displayed category
Detected pieces are grouped by category, and a row of chips across the top of the card switches which category is shown. An "All" tab shows them together.
Re-scan a region the search missed
If a piece was missed or cut off, the card offers "Missed an item? Select a region to re-scan". Tap the item to place the area, then run "Re-analyze selection" — the search re-runs on just that region.
Coordinating pieces, when available
Alongside similar products, the card can add a "Style with …" section — pieces from other categories that go with the one you picked, such as trousers to go with a jacket. It appears only when there is something to show for it.
Opening a product
Each product on the card is a link to the merchant. Selecting one asks ChatGPT to open that destination, and ChatGPT decides how it opens.
What happens to your photo
The image you give it is sent to our server to run the search. We do not store your ChatGPT conversation. Because the app only runs when you call it, not calling it is the opt-out; you can also remove the app in ChatGPT's settings, which stops it entirely.
How we earn
Outfit Lens earns a commission when you purchase through our links · At no cost to you
Results are ranked by visual similarity only — stores cannot pay for placement. A commission is possible only when you click through and buy; the app sets nothing when a card is merely rendered.
Languages
The app runs in ten languages: English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and Arabic.
Also available as a Chrome extension
The same search runs as a Chrome extension, which lets you select any image while browsing instead of bringing it into a conversation. Use whichever surface you are already in.
Questions
Does Outfit Lens run on its own inside ChatGPT?
No. It starts only when you ask for it by name or pick it from ChatGPT's app menu. There is no background process and no automatic trigger.
How do I stop it?
Simply not calling it is the opt-out, since it never runs unprompted. You can also remove the app in ChatGPT's settings, which stops it entirely.
Do I need the Chrome extension to use it in ChatGPT?
No. The ChatGPT app runs inside the conversation on its own. The extension is a separate way to use the same search while browsing.
Which stores do the results come from?
A rotating set of partner stores. You can narrow the results to a particular seller, which is separate from narrowing by brand.
